Change the nationality record (Gulbenes county General Registry Department)

Process description

1. Service requests
   A person who wants to change nationalities, arrives onsite the registry office. At the time of service requests:
   1. subject to presentation of a personal identification document – the original;
   2. submit an application;
   3. the father or mother's birth certificate or an extract from the birth register, which proves the kinship of the person with relatives of the direct ascending line, and documents which confirm the nationality of the person (within the limits of two generations) - the original presentation;
   4 .minor person - and the parents or guardian consent to change the nationality record - to be submitted to the original;
   5. if the selected ethnicity "Latvian" - a document attesting to the highest (third), appropriate to the degree of personal knowledge of the official language - subject to presentation of an original;
   6. a receipt of payment of state fee - the original.

   The State fee for changing the name or surname – EUR 71,14
   (the name, surname and nationality record exchange law).

3. Service Processing
   The Registrar, shall review and preparation for shipment documents submitted to the Ministry of Justice department of civil registries decision making.

4. Receipt of services
   Ministry of Justice department of civil registries decision regarding permission or refusal to change the nationality of the applicant shall be notified by mail registered letter.
